Chocolate Cherry Cake

1 box fudge cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling
2 eggs
1 tsp almond flavoring
(optional frosting) 1 can vanilla frosting with 1 tsp rum flavoring)
1)Break the eggs into a large mixing bowl and stir
2)Mix in the almond flavoring
3) Add the cake mix and stir to moisten
4) Fold in the pie filling and stir by hand until the entire mixture is moistened
5) Place in a 9" x 13" baking pan and cook for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
(Note: this recipe won for me the 1994 Michigan State Fair "Best Of Show" in the Cakes category)
