The Birthday Moose
(Wubbulous Chunky Shape Books)

by by Seuss, the Thompson Bros. (Illustrator), Josie Yee, Del Thompson (Illustrator), Dr Seuss

Review: What are the ingredients for a Wubbulous birthday party? Some bubbly fun, a half cup of cheer, and some very good wishes would go splendidly here! And let's not forget the Birthday Bird. The Birthday Bird is unavoidably detained, you say? Well, then, this looks like a job for Thidwick, none other than the Birthday Moose. (reviewed by Cookie)

A Bear Called Paddington
by Michael Bond, Peggy Fortnum (Illustrator)

Review: Paddington Bear books are hilarious! This is the first in the series. I laughed out loud over and over while reading these to my kids. Paddington is from 'deepest darkest Peru' and is one of the wittiest bears I know. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any adult in the 'reading out loud' business!!

The Giving Tree
by Shel Silverstein

Review: I was browsing in our local bookstore one day, not really looking for anything specific and I happened to pick up a copy of The Giving Tree. As I thumbed through the book and read, the tears first welled then spilled from my eyes. It's the most wonderful story I have ever read. It's a parable of loving and giving and can be interpretted however you need.

Since that day I have bought countless copies and have given them to children and adults alike. They in turn have done the same. Whether you have children or not it's a "must read".

Ronia, the Robber's Daughter
by Astrid Lindgren

Review: This is an epic childrens book that suits kids between the ages of 5-100. Astrid Lindgren is one of Swedens most famous writers and this book is about friendship and adventure, the beauty of nature and how important it is to stand up for your views. A book to give you that feeling that even the smallest voice matters.

Review: The first of a series of four, and winner of the 1963 Newbery medal. This timeless adventure pits Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin against an evil, brooding darkness creeping its way to earth. An excellent lesson in learning to think before conforming.
